Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) has recently formed a partnership with Mill Industries Inc. to launch a unique initiative at Whole Foods Market stores designed to minimize in-store food wastage. The collaboration will see Whole Foods as the initial adopter of Mill Commercial, an advanced food recycling system with automated and high-capacity capabilities. Starting in 2027, fruit and vegetable scraps generated from back-of-house operations will be processed by Mill's technologies to create a nutrient-enriched ingredient utilized in chicken feed, thereby supporting Whole Foods' in-house egg producers. This innovative approach is part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to address environmental sustainability and food waste issues in retail operations.
