The Trump administration is preparing to renegotiate the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the largest free trade deal of the United States. The renegotiation process is set to begin within the next month. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative will start public consultations for the renegotiation, as required by the 2020 law that put the pact into effect. The consultations must start by Oct. 4 and are expected to be the initial stage of an extensive renegotiation process. President Trump's team will gather input from companies and unions this week. The renegotiation will likely involve a mandatory six-year review, with the first official trilateral USMCA review planned for July 1, 2026. The USMCA, signed in 2020, replaced the 1992 agreement.
