A recent report reveals that total global greenhouse gas emissions have reached a record high of 59.1 gigatons in the year 2021. This represents a substantial 4.3% increase compared to the previous year. The largest contributors to these emissions were China, which accounted for 28% of the total, followed by the United States with 15%. The report also highlights that carbon dioxide levels have surged to 419 parts per million in the atmosphere, the highest recorded in the last 3 million years.
