A technology has been created by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Stock Symbol: 6503) in Tokyo to estimate soil organic carbon (SOC) in agricultural land through optical measurements and two SOC dynamic models: a root biomass model and a microbially mediated organic matter decomposition model. This development aims to enhance the accurate estimation of SOC without the necessity of soil sampling and traditional laboratory techniques. This advancement allows for cost-effective and large-scale monitoring of SOC levels in agricultural land.
