In France, crypto entrepreneurs and their families are facing an increased risk of kidnapping incidents, prompting the government to implement enhanced security measures. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau introduced these measures, including priority police access, home security assessments, and safety briefings, to combat the recent wave of attacks. In recent months, there have been three crypto-related kidnapping incidents in France. The latest attack on May 13 targeted the daughter and grandson of Paymium CEO Pierre Noizat, but they managed to fight off the assailants. The police have also thwarted kidnapping plots, one involving a 7 million euros ransom. Retailleau suspects these incidents are connected, with over 150 crypto-related robbery or kidnapping cases since 2014, 23 of which occurred in 2025.
