In Chicago, ComEd crews are working diligently to restore power to customers affected by severe storms following three days of extreme heat. The storms, which hit northern Illinois on Thursday night, brought heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts surpassing 50 miles per hour. As of now, over 45,000 customers have had their power restored, but there are still 10,400 customers without electricity. There is a concern for additional severe weather on Friday and throughout the holiday weekend.
