UK Member of Parliament Lucy Powell's X account was hacked to promote a scam crypto token called House of Commons Coin (HOC), with posts claiming it as "a community driven digital currency." The token peaked at a market cap of over $24,000 following Powell's hacked posts, with 736 transactions and a trading volume of $71,000. This incident follows a similar attack on Ghana's President John Mahama's account promoting a fake crypto called Solanafrica. Political figures backing real crypto tokens is not new, as seen with US President Trump and Argentine President Melei's involvement. Such incidents raise concerns about the security of influential individuals' social media accounts and the promotion of dubious cryptocurrencies.
