Three individuals were deported and one arrested for attempting to steal crypto miners at a facility near Paraguay's Itaipu hydroelectric dam. The arrested individual, Nahun María Velázquez Garcete, a legal resident in Paraguay, is suspected of being part of a criminal organization and charged with aggravated theft. The deported Chinese nationals - Jinping Duan, Tian Jianyun, and Zheng Guanglong - did not have entry records into the country and are believed to have entered illegally through Brazil or Bolivia. The men were caught by police after breaking into Teratech SA's facility in Coronel Bogado. Paraguayan officials suspect others were involved and are investigating. It is believed the immigrants had been in Paraguay for months as programmers, possibly working illegally. Paraguay's renewable energy resources make it attractive for crypto mining, with the Itaipu dam supplying excess electricity for operations. The case is still under investigation.
