In San Francisco, California, the state achieved a significant reduction of 3% in climate pollution in 2023. This marks one of the largest year-over-year emissions decreases in the state's history. The latest data surpassed reductions seen in 2009 and 2020, during the Great Recession and COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. Despite this progress, California is not currently projected to meet its 2030 targets. The findings were revealed in the 17th annual California Green Innovation Index published by a think tank.
